Meet the Piping Team


  Doug MacRae

Doug is from London, Ontario, Canada, and has been piping since the age of eight.  He has experienced a successful competitive career as a consistent prize-winner through the ranks.  Some of his accomplishments include: the Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario Champion Supreme Award for Junior Amateur Piobaireachd and Senior Amateur Piobaireachd.  Doug has also won the Professional Piobaireachd Award at the Maxville Highland Games (2004), the Canadian Gold Medal Piobaireachd (2010), and the Kansas City Silver Medal (2011). 

Aside from competitive piping, Doug also tours with The American Rogues, a highly acclaimed Celtic group in the United States (theamericanrogues.com).  Doug is featured on their most recent album, "3lbs. of Rage."

From 2003-2008, Doug spent his time in Houston, TX teaching bagpipes at St. Thomas' Episcopal School.  There, he acted as the band director of the 5-time Juvenile World Champion, St. Thomas’ Episcopal School Pipe Band. Under his direction, the group won the Juvenile World Championship in 2006. 

Doug is a 17 year member of The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band and acts as Pipe Major.  He is a certified adjudicator for the Pipers' and Pipe Band Society of Ontario and has served on its Board of Directors, Music Committee, and as an Executive member of the Western Branch for 15 years.


  Jim Scott

Jim has been involved with piping and pipe bands for over 55 years.  He started his career with the Hamilton Kiwanis Boys Pipe Band at age 8. He has piped with many pipe bands over the course of his career including: London Police Pipe Band, General Motors Pipe Band, St Thomas Pipe Band and MacNish Distillery Pipe Band.  He has now been Pipe Major of the Forest City Celtic Pipe Band / London Fire Fighters Pipe Band for the last 15 years.

Jim has played on, or produced, a number of solo and pipe band recordings during the last 40 years. He is a certified adjudicator with the Pipers' and Pipe Band Society of Ontario and has served on the Board of Directors along with the Music Board.

Jim's passion is piping and he continues to study and learn as an individual and band man.
